Career Club, an exciting new program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Sarasota and Charlotte Counties who are interested in supported employment services, started earlier this month.
The Career Club, offered by Loveland Center’s Community Opportunities Department, will serve as work training to enhance the skills and knowledge of participants, whether they are seeking employment or already have a steady job. The Club is FREE and will meet the last Wednesday of every month at Jacaranda, North Port and Downtown Venice Public Libraries on a rotation basis from 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Each meeting will focus on providing information and training on specific job-related subjects, such as how to complete an employment application, appropriate work attire and communication skills for the work place. The Club will serve as a place where participants can ask questions and have employment-related discussions.
“We are excited to offer this new program for those interested in employment and volunteering opportunities.” said Chris Meyer, Loveland Center’s Community Opportunities Manager. “The Career Club will foster their natural abilities, and utilize past and current skills to establish and maintain support.”
Anyone interested in attending Career Club meetings or learning more about the program can please call the Community Opportunities Manager at 941.493.0016 ext.316 for more information.
